How to connect an Android device

Ranorex Webtestit supports the execution of your tests on a USB connected Android device.

In order to get started with the mobile testing, follow the instructions steps:

First, make sure that you have ADB (Android Debug Bridge) installed on your system.
You can find the proper downloads for your operating system here:

Secondly, make sure to register the ADB executable within your PATH, so that it is accessible directly via the terminal/command line.

Next, connect your device and turn on “USB Debugging” via the menu Settings -> DeveloperSettings -> “USB Debugging”.

Notes: On modern Android devices, you’ll find USB Debugging hidden by default. Here you can see how to configure on-device developer options.

After that type adb devices and you should see your DeviceID listed.

After following the instructions steps, restart Ranorex Webtestit. Now simply open the desired project and add a new endpoint.

With that done, you should see the Android device as a selectable option in the bottom of the local endpoints section. Hit the “Save endpoint” button and you are all set!

After adding the endpoint, you’re good to go and able to run your tests on Chrome for Android.
