Ranorex Webtestit version 1.1.0 is out!
We are excited to announce our newest release! With Ranorex Webtestit v1.1.0 you will get a lot of new features and improved user experience. We also got rid of a few bugs that were nagging you, making the whole process smoother and faster.
Check out the list of new features and bug fixes included in this release.
As always, the whole Ranorex Webtestit team is looking forward to your feedback.
Settings and preferences dialog - The long-anticipated preferences dialog is here! Now you have it all in one place, clear and simple. We introduced the preferences dialog in which you can find all the settings related to your project or the global user application settings. On the left side, you will notice the settings categories, so all you need to do is to pick your category and edit the settings as you please. And if you are a hardcore JSON fan, you can always find and access some settings via the
webtestit.jsonfile in the project tree.
Github and GitLab integration - Good news everyone, now you can open all your projects from your GitHub and GitLab account directly into Ranorex Webtestit!
Managing your projects just got easier, especially if you are working in a team, as you can clone your project and work on them, compare the changes and improve your workflow. To open a project, click Open remote project under the Start category, login, select your project, and let the testing begin!
Automatic screenshots on failure - We all know about our cool screenshot on failure feature, right. All you needed to do is to follow our how-to articles for Java and TypeScript projects and add this feature to your project and you are good to go! Well, now it is even easier. The screenshot on failure on your newly created project is available right away! With this feature integrated, a screenshot of your failed test is automatically created and added to the reports/screenshot folder and displayed inline of the report itself. You can always turn off this feature on a per-project basis from the project settings menu.
Element Screenshots - Update all element screenshots feature - Working on a large project automatically means having to deal with a large number of page objects and elements. Luckily, Ranorex Webtestit has this amazing element screenshot feature, that helps you to keep track of every element by displaying the screenshot associated with it. Over time, some elements on the web application you are testing, may change and you may have to update them manually? Well no, all you need to do is hit the update element screenshots from the main menu! Connect the Ranorex Selocity extension with Ranorex Webtestit, navigate to the site where your elements are located and you are ready to go. All of your element screenshots will be checked and updated to the current state of the Site under Test.
Duplicate test names linter rule - Having duplicate test names in your project is not the best practice, and it could result in errors during the test execution. With Ranorex Webtestit our focus is on using the best practices and as always, we have your back. We introduced a linter rule to check for duplicate test names and describe blocks in TypeScript projects, that will warn you and point out the duplicates so that you can easily find and fix the issue.
Git ‘Compare to’ dialog improvements
In previous versions of Ranorex Webtestit, in the ‘Compare to’ dialog users had to select the commit from the list by clicking on it, and then open it by clicking the button. We made it more convenient by allowing users to open the specific commit right away by double-clicking on it and navigating entries with the keyboard arrows.
Page Object file screenshot preview
We updated the screenshot preview of the Page Object file and added a neat frame as sometimes, it was hard for to see the hovering image of Project tree Page object and Element panel element screenshots, or even realize what these images are supposed to represent.
Ranorex Selocity dialog
Ranorex Webtestit works best together with Ranorex Selocity. But you already know that. If not, we added a small dialog that will remind you of the benefits of using our two tools together. You can choose to disable the dialog via the ‘Don’t show again’ option.
Ubuntu 18.04 - .deb version installation - Fixed the "revision number error " when trying to install Webtestit version 1.0.1 on Ubuntu 18.04+ using the .deb installer.
Horizontal scrollbar for “Peek definition” window - Added a horizontal scrollbar for “Peek definition” window that was missing, preventing users to see the whole code line that was cut off by the previous window size.
Quick open bar and command bar improvements - As you know, you can use our cool quick open and quick command bars to search and access project files or simply execute the desired command. We fixed the issue of quick open/quick command bar not being closed properly in some situations like closing the project or opening some other dialog.
Image panel - The image zoom factor is now correctly shown as you zoom in or out by using the mouse (clicking on the image).
You should receive the new version automatically via the auto-updater once you restart the app.
